The Licensing Unit Delhi Police is an ISO 9001:2000 certified organisation that deals with the licensing of – Arms , Explosives , Hotels , Restaurants , Cinema , Press , Auditoriums , Amusement Parks , Performance Licenses etc. Our Motto is “Citizens First”. We are singularly dedicated to the mission of providing prompt and quality service to all. This organisation thrives on the regular feedback received from the public and today we are standing at a customer satisfaction level of over 85%.

The culture of the organisation is reflected in the fact that based on the feedback received from the public the licensing branch has made fundamental infrastructural improvements in order to reach out to the public viz – creating a new inquiry counter for facilitating the public and dissemination of information, opening of a new public lounge to ensure transparent public dealing.

HISTORY

The Delhi Police Act, 1978, came into force on 1/7/1978. This Act confers the powers of the District Magistrate on the Commissioner of Police. Thus the powers of Licensing were conferred on the Commissioner of Police by the Delhi Police Act 1978.

Section 28 of the Delhi Police Act empowers the Commissioner of Police, Delhi to make regulations for the preservation of order in Public Places. Various Regulations have been framed under this section. The purpose of these Regulations is preservation and maintenance of public order in Public Places.
